The Guitar Challenge – Rules

Today, I begin “The Guitar Challenge” with Dorothy. The basic challenge is to see who can learn to play the guitar the best over a 3 month period.

Here are the rules:

1. Each player can use whatever method of instruction they choose.

2. Contest ends the first week of December, with a recital on an agreed upon location and date/time.

3. In preparation for the recital, each player will choose one song on November 1st. Each player must play both songs and a third song of their choice during the recital.

4. Recital attendees will judge each player’s 3 songs on a scale of 1-10. The player with the most points wins.

The prize:

Each player will choose a charity. All recital proceeds will go to the winner’s charity of choice.

My thoughts

Clearly, Dorothy has the advantage in this challenge. Her extensive experience playing piano and violin puts her at an extreme advantage. She plans on getting lessons from the famous Dan Smith, I plan on using computer learning software and other online means to learn this instrument. Lets see how this plays out.
